Illustration Friday: Caged

This is my first Illustration Friday submission. The word is 'caged' and my interpretation is of an artist being deprived of creativity....which I'm sure a lot of us can relate to!

back in business

It feels so good to get back into illustration! I can't say that enough...
This is a new self project that I will be adding to my portfolio. I am designing the characters from Alice in Wonderland in my own style and will possibly make a deck of cards from it.

This is my first design, the Queen of Hearts.

Bento Box Buttons

This is a new project that I have in the works. My love for sushi and Japanese things has inspired me to be creative and finally get back into art. In January, I will be back in school and taking a two year graphic design course at Humber, so I wanted to brush up my computer skills a little. I will be creating vector graphic sushi and eventually will make them into wearable pin buttons. So far, I have three done and hope to complete ten.
The next step is to find a place where I can buy or rent a button press....I hear that there is a place on Queen Street West called 'The Workroom' where you can use their machine. If anyone has any helpful advice that would be great :)

Toronto Beerfest 2008

Well, the summer has been really slow for job hunting, but a friend of mine I used to work with at Canada's Wonderland  contacted me to help him airbrush shirts at the Toronto Beer Festival so I was more than happy to take this opportunity. This was a four day event, from August 7-11th, Thursday to Sunday. We were airbrushing the shirts for Red Stripe beer, they requested us to go with a musical theme, so Randal made stencil designs of DJ silhouettes with their logo to go on each shirt. We did not expect there to be a lot of people around because of the weather, but we managed to paint almost 300 shirts out of the 500 that they ordered.

So to sum it up, we had some fun, and the Red Stripe people were satisfied with the results and they will likely ask us to come back next year.
